I think it would have been great as a Little Golden Book, but maybe it will reach a wider audience as a big picture book. ( ) I liked this book because it is a short little story about a mouse with a musical ear. Sylvester is a country mouse that loves to listen to the music coming from the meadow surrounding him. He listens to birds and crickets sing, the sounds from the wind on the trees, etc. He turned every natural sound into music in his ears. One day the meadow was no longer there. Men started building a city, train tracks and a highway. Sylvester was sad until he found a music store. He lived in a guitar in which people thought it was magical when they heard Sylvester playing. However, no one wanted to buy the magical guitar until Tex heard of it. Tex was a country man who loved to sing but had no guitar to play along with him. He heard of the magical guitar and bought it immediately. He soon found out that guitar was not magical but their was a tiny mouse playing inside of it. Sylvester and tex became friends and sang and played together all of the days. I liked this story because it was cute and told the story of how a friendship came to be. I also really like the illustrations. The illustrator made Sylvester look like a person by giving him a checkered handkerchief and allowing him to walk on his hind legs. This was a fun story that beginning readers would love since the language was easy to understand. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
