"From Tracey Garvis Graves, the bestselling author of The Girl He Used to Know comes a love song of a story about starting over and second chances in Heard It in a Love Song. Love doesn't always wait until you're ready. Layla Hilding is thirty-five and recently divorced. Struggling to break free from the past-her glory days as the lead singer in a band and a ten-year marriage to a man who never put her first-Layla's newly found independence feels a lot like loneliness. Then there's Josh, the single dad whose daughter attends the elementary school where Layla teaches music. Recently separated, he's still processing the end of his twenty-year marriage to his high school sweetheart. He chats with Layla every morning at school and finds himself thinking about her more and more. Equally cautious and confused about dating in a world that favors apps over meeting organically, Layla and Josh decide to be friends with the potential for something more. Sounds sensible and way too simple-but when two people are on the rebound, is it heartbreak or happiness that's a love song away?"--… (plus d'informations)

Sweet and gentle romance about two relatable people going through divorces and finding themselves and each other. ( )

I bought this when it came out because I love On the Island. It sounded like something I would love. I don't know why it took me so long to read it. This story follows Layla and Josh who are both getting divorced. It flashes back and forth in time in each of their lives to show what went wrong in their marriages while also following what is happening in the present as they learn what it means to be single and on their own.

I liked it, but i didn't love it. I was more interested in Josh's back story than Layla's for some reason. I liked how they were friends before they became more because it felt more authentic. I might re-read at some point to see if my opinion changes but for now 3 stars. ( )

Josh is struggling through his divorce. Layla has just recently divorced. Neither one is looking for love. But, as you can guess, these two have a connection.

Josh has a beautiful daughter and Layla is her music teacher. So they see each other every day. This opens up some doors for both of them. But, can they make rebound love work..you must read this to find out!

The characters, as usual, are fabulous. They are each struggling but they stay sane. That is important! Trust me! These two are perfect together. Throw in the cute dog and the sweet little girl and you have a good read!

I also loved the narrator, Andi Arndt. I have heard her narrate on several books and she does a great pace and wonderful inflection.

I absolutely love this author. However, this book is not my favorite, but it is still a good read. Her books just usually have a different twist. This one is just a normal romance, nothing wrong with that. I still enjoyed it, especially with all the music references. Brought back a ton of memories.

Need a good romance which will make you smile…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review ( )

This was great! This is the second time that I have picked up a book written by Tracey Garvis Graves and I have been very impressed with her work so far. When I found out that Andi Arndt narrated this book, I knew that this would be a book that I would want to listen to. I just loved the characters and appreciated all of the music references. This was an enjoyable read from beginning to end.

This was a wonderful story of moving on. Layla works as the music teacher at the local elementary school and is recently divorced. Josh has just separated from his wife and is just trying to figure out how to take care of his daughter and move forward with his life. Josh and Layla meet through the elementary school and develop a friendship that has a lot of potential. Layla and Josh were great characters and I liked seeing them together. They are both recently leaving a marriage and I liked learning how things went wrong for them in their prior relationships. They both seemed determined to take things slow and not hurt each other.

I really enjoyed Layla’s journey back into music. When she was younger she was part of a pretty successful local band and had big dreams but responsibility got in the way. It was great to see her pick up a guitar again and do something that she was passionate about. I really liked all of the music references and could really imagine her up on the stage in front of a crowd.

Andi Arndt is one of my favorite narrators and she did an amazing job with this book. I loved the voices that she used for each of the characters and really felt like she brought them to life. This book was really a joy to listen to because of the wonderful narration.

I would definitely recommend this book to others. I thought it was a wonderful story about learning to move on with enough romance to keep things interesting. I will definitely be reading more of this author in the future.

I received a review copy of this audiobook from Macmillan Audio via NetGalley. ( )

Review:
"Heard It in a Love Song" by Tracey Garvis Graves

My Opinion:

"Heard It In A Love Song" was a good read where Layla is an elementary school teacher of music, her first passion—divorced how Layla will make it with her teaching job now that she doesn't have that ex around and the band she once played and sung. It was good seeing Layla, finding herself as she dedicates her time to her music.

As time goes on, Layla will meet Josh and his daughter Sasha, along with his ex. We find that Sasha attends the school that Layla teaches. What was unique about these two [Layla & Josh] was that they are both finalizing their divorces...or at least one of them was. The author gives the reader a sweet read of what happens when these two pair up, while all seems to be going well between Layla and Josh until specific facts come out that Josh and his wife are still married. What will come of that situation?

Pick up this well-written read to see how well this author brings it all out as the book will move back and forth, giving their backstories. If you like stories with ... 'seconds chances with happiness, self-growth, going after one's dreams and finally having one hopes rekindled,' then you have come to the right place for this kind of story and the strengths that both the heroine and hero gained by the end of the read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review. ( )
