This book is good for students who are homeschooled and may want extra help for creativity, social growth, i requested it for my little brother (Who's now in 6th grade) but it's still a little extra help. As i said it can allow students who are homeschooled to get help with creativity and social growth.

The Social and Emotional Curriculum for Gifted Students is a great asset to both teachers and parents. As both a teacher and a parent, the lessons outlined in this book allow for creativity, social growth and self awareness while also allowing students to develop skills that will be useful in a classroom environment and a social one. Teachers can use this to guide and develop curriculum, while parents can use it to enhance their children's education at home. ( )

The Social and Emotional Curriculum for Gifted Students series provides tools to help gifted students in grades 3-5 develop their skills and creativity more fully. The Grade 5 book contains all one needs to plan and organize a classroom or home schooling situation to the benefit of all parties involved.

As usual, Prufrock provides copy-able material to help teachers and parents along.

This book might also be helpful for school counselors. ( )

In the age of social-emotional learning books, Hess writes a real winner. This is essentially a guide to teaching gifted 5th grade students valuable social-emotional skills and topics like perfectionism, empathy, resilience, and self-understanding. Hess takes a holistic approach that offers students the opportunity to come to their own conclusions about these topics and how they relate to them rather than teaching them to memorize definitions. Handouts, lesson plans, unit structures, and connections to the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) for each lesson.

This guide would be useful to anyone who works with gifted students in an academic setting. Teachers, specialists, paraprofessionals, and counselors alike can benefit from the framework of this book—it is a wonderful find. ( )
