Note: I accessed a digital review copy of this book through Edelweiss. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I enjoyed this third book in the McTavish series.Pa Peachey has decided to take up a new hobby: baking. No matter how much he practices, he continues to be terrible at it. He turns the kitchen into a disaster zone. Just when it seems like he might give up and try a new hobby, he announces that he wants to enter a 'bake-off' competition in their local fair. McTavish manages to save the day, as always. I think this book is better read as part of the series than on its own because the characters are better described in previous books. Still, an enjoyable read! Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. This is the 3rd McTavish book and - once again - McTavish is called upon to rescue the Peachey family. Pa Peachey has decided to enter a baking contest. It is his dream to produce an amazing feat of baking that will easily take first prize. The problem, of course, is that Pa Peachey is not a great baker. He's not even a good or a mediocre baker. He is a terrible baker. But the family - and McTavish - decide to not stand in the way of Pa's dream. Can McTavish come up with a clever plan to save his family? Of course he can! The McTavish books are quite silly and nonsensical but manage to sneak in a few nuggets of wisdom along the way. This easy to read book is the third installment in the McTavis series, Once again McTavish the dog must save the day when Pa Peachey decides to enter a baking contest. I know the book is geared to ages 7-10 but I read it to a child who was younger so I would have liked a few more illustrations. Even without them he loved the story. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. The Peachey family is having fun preparing meals until Pa Peachey decides to start baking. His baking is generally a fail, and the family’s dog, McTavish, ends up with most of it smuggled to him from unhappy tasters under the table. Then Pa Peachey gets the idea to enter a baking contest. After days of hard work, his entry is another disaster. Can McTavish save the day? Clever dialogue (without being overly rude) among the family members. And a dog who is the cleverest one in the family. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

"Pa Peachey has gotten it in his head that he is going to be the baker in the family, and the Peacheys and their dog, McTavish, are more than a little surprised. Stunned, in fact. Ever since Ma Peachey declared herself free of the cooking responsibilities, Betty, Ava, and Ollie have taken turns making inventive and delicious meals. But Pa thinks he can do better, even though his cakes are as flat as manhole covers and his cookies turn to charcoal. When the town announces a baking competition with a big prize, Pa is convinced he will enter an absolute masterpiece. Now the Peacheys have to decide: should they be honest with Pa and tell him his confections are contemptible, or should they support his high-flying dreams? Or could McTavish have a last-minute option at the ready?"--Amazon. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
