A fantastic book! A mystery, murder and comedy rolled into one! Millie, the main character is a rambunctious Amish woman who quilts, is a matchmaker and solves crimes on the side! A definite must read! ( )

Millie and her English friend Lois get involved trying to solve a murder that took place decades ago. An Amish man had been killed, and his wife blamed for the death after she disappeared the same night. But when a skeleton is uncovered in a ravine, people no longer believe she had runoff to become English. Millie hopes exonerate her friend’s sister by proving her innocent. But her questions around town do more than gather information; they put Millie in the crosshairs of the real killer. It’s an exciting mystery, peopled with interesting continuing characters in the series. Well written and entertaining, this series just keeps getting better. ( )

Marriage Can Be Mischief by Amanda Flower is an entertaining cozy mystery. While it is the third book in An Amish Matchmaker Mysteries, it can be read as a standalone. You will be missing out two amusing stories though. I love that we get an older protagonist in this series along with her over-the-top sidekick. Millie Fisher is a delight and so is her best friend, Lois. These two are complete opposites in appearance. Millie and Lois are a hoot. That Lois is something else. I love that Lois calls Millie “Amish Marple.” Millie’s goats are amusing. I love that Millie takes Peter and Phillip for walks. I can just see Millie on her red bike with her two mischievous goats following along. Those two rotten darlings are Millie’s furbabies. It is always a pleasure to visit Harvest, Ohio. It is a charming town with a mix of Amish and Englisch. I like that the characters from An Amish Candy Shop Mysteries make an appearance like Margot and Deputy Little. I keep hoping the sheriff of their town will get ousted. I wish Aidan had run against him in the last election. The mystery has a documentary crew finding a skull in a ravine. It relates to a cold case that is forty years old. Millie’s friend, Uriah Schrock has been searching for his sister, Galilee Zook for forty years. She disappeared the same night her husband, Samuel Zook was found dead. Uriah never believed the rumor that Galilee killed her husband or that she went Englisch. Millie and Lois begin asking questions in the hopes of discovering what happened to Uriah’s sister. Someone is not happy with Millie’s meddling and decides to stop her. I had a good time following along on Millie and Lois’ investigation. You never know what Lois is going to do or say next. While I had no problem identifying the guilty party, it did not diminish my reading pleasure. I like how the case wrapped up. I appreciated the epilogue at the end of the book. I hope we get many more An Amish Matchmaker Mysteries. Marriage Can Be Mischief is an amusing whodunit with gamboling goats, a troubled brother, a broken buggy, a missing sister, a friendly filmmaker, an unsupportive sheriff, a colorful coiffure, and an Amish sleuth. Marriage Can Be Mischief is the third book in the An Amish Matchmaker Mystery series by Amanda Flower.

Some forty years ago, Sam Zook’s dead body was found in his buggy; his wife Galilee(Gali) had disappeared. It was known in the community that they had a far from a good marriage. Police ruled that Gali had killed her husband and ran away, never to be seen or heard from again.

Back to the present day, Uriah Schrock, who moved to Indiana after his sister Gali disappeared, has returned to, hopefully, learn what had happened to his sister and asks Millie if she would help him. Lois is taking Millie home after attending a concert at the town square. They come upon police cars gathered where Zook had been killed. Lois and Millie stopped to see what had happened. They learn that a film crew was filming a documentary about Zook’s death, and they found a human skull and bones. The bones turn out to be those of Gali. Millie and Lois set out to determine that fatal night. Before they can get much information from the police, the sheriff orders the case closed. But it’s not closed for Millie and Lois, and they will find that there are several suspects to question. When Millie buggy’s axle breaks, causing her to lose control and crashes. When the police determine that someone maliciously had cut into the axle, they reopen the investigation.

It’s always enjoyable to visit the community of Harvest, be it this series or The Amish Candy shop. The book is well-written and plotted. The characters are interesting, believable, and well developed. Once again, Phillip and Peter, Millie’s pet goats, are around and as ornery as ever. I just love these goats. There were enough twists and turns. I was kept guessing until the end of the as to who the killer was.

I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. ( )

I loved being back in Harvest Ohio and spending time in this quaint Amish community. I especially enjoy my time with Millie and Lois, childhood friends, one Amish and one English, but soulmates that are there for one another.
Uriah Schrock is back in town, are their sparks between him and Millie? He is back from his now Indiana community, and looking for answers about his missing sister, she has been gone now 40 years. Answers are coming here, and for me surprises, I really didn’t guess the answers!
Come and enjoy Phillip and Peter, they seem to know what Millie is telling them and often mind her, would love to see them out for their walking journeys, of course Millie is riding her bike, and these boys are pet goats!
I am now looking forward to the next visit to this community, that unfortunately, have more mysteries, and murders than most places!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington, and was not required to give a positive review. ( )
