Balloons for Tiger is a wonderful rhyming book that will help children cope with the loss of a pet. The books illustrations are phenomenal, a perfect way to tell the children that their beloved pet will always be with them through their memories.

I loved this book, as I have struggled with the loss of a pet. And as hard as it is for an adult, it is much harder for children to understand why their pets pass away. And this book is written to help them understand that it is okay to talk about their pet, and why they may be confused or sad. There are also coping strategies for parents, and discussion questions for educators which I found helpful. I believe all parents should have this book if your child has a pet that has gone over the rainbow bridge. I give Balloons for Tiger 5 stars hands down!

I would like to thank the author and iRead Book Tours for the review copy in exchange for my honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Even for adults, losing a beloved pet can be traumatic. For children, especially those who have never been without the pet, it can be particularly difficult. Coping with feelings of loss is not something most kids are fully equipt to do. Without a lot of outside resources, author Lori Orlinsky did what most parents wish they could do, she wrote a book to help her children process the loss of their cat Tiger.

The book opens with a family releasing anthropomorphic balloons to the sky laden with messages of love. It follows the delightful characters on their journey across and beyond the world. They see many wondrous sights along the way and interact with fantastical heroes, like Santa and the tooth fairy who help them along the way to their destination, a place in heaven where the loved pets of several families have come to rest, often with balloons and messages of their own.

The rhyming story is one of adventure and discovery encompassing many themes of childhood. The art is vibrant and thrilling, sure to elicit many oohs and ahhs from young ones. Though it is a story of a sad occasion. The tone is never one of sadness but rather the excitement of a new journey.

In the back of the book are study questions that can be used in an educational setting as well as tips for parents to help their own kids deal with grief. It is a wonderful conversation starter and a book kids will be happy to come back to again and again for reassurance.

How can children begin to heal after losing a pet? Balloons for Tiger takes an imaginative look at this tough topic as colorful balloons travel from the hands of children to their beloved cat who has passed on. This book lets children open up their hearts and imaginations for a magical journey to the farthest corners of the world, where they'll meet skydivers, astronauts, superheroes, and everything in between. As they watch the balloons voyage to the other side of the rainbow bridge, they learn to positively process their grief. Balloons for Tiger is a great tool for any child who has experienced the loss of a pet- or any other loved one, too. ( )

Balloons for Tiger is a good book for younger readers. It is a good way of teaching young ones about the experience of losing their beloved pet. It does so by making young ones to stay captivated from start to finish. I admired how the author was able to use this story to bring out a way of showing how one can heal and grieve such an important friend in their life. I found it to be a wonderful tool to help little children process of what is happening. It is okay to be sad and to be missing their friend, but they still have their memories.

I enjoyed Balloons for Tiger’s illustrations. The illustrator is the talented Vanessa Alexandre. Her creative gift shines throughout the book. The pages were so beautiful and vibrant that would catch any young reader’s eye. I adored the colorful pictures on every single page. They perfectly follow the story and helps brings it to life.

Balloons for Tiger is getting a very well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it for young readers who are between the ages of three and seven years old. It would be a perfect to gift to give to any child that is trying to understand and are grieving the loss of their furry friend. I will be looking for more books by Lori Orlinsky in the future.

I received a hard copy of Balloons for Tiger from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion. ( )

I am sure most, if not everyone as lost a pet or two in their lifetime. Whether you were a child yourself or you are a parent of one. I am sure it has been hard to tell your child or children about pet loss. Well, this book is called "Balloons for Tiger" is a book about pet loss.

It can show you how to deal with pet loss with your child or children. It is a good one for children to understand a pet's death, but that their pet's love is continual with them; It may help open your child or children to talk about their loss of their favorite pet.

You never know, maybe your child will want to send balloons to their lovely pet in haven. They will show it back in another way. You may find another way to show your child grief for their precious pet. It is suitable for adults as well.

This book reminded me of my loving cat that has passed away. I loved Pumpkin dearly, and I still miss him today, And it has been two or three years since the cat passed. I keep him and his brother. We couldn't own one and let the other one go. His name is Pumpkin, and I still love him, and his brother Patches is still around somewhere in the neighborhood.

I miss my little boy. He was just so cuddly and my reading buddy. This book reminded me to keep those memories alive, and I will send my love for him. I hope to see him on the rainbow bridge when it comes to coming home to be with him.

Children will love this book. Parents will like it as well. It got some good tips in the back of the book to help guide or guide children with talking about pet loss or ideas to deal with the loss of a pet. The book is good even if you lose a pet that is not a cat. You can change the pet to a fish if you so wish. Or even a dog. The pet can signify adjusted to whatever pet you want it to be for your family. Pets are family members too. ( )
