"In Amsterdam, four bodies, violently butchered, are discovered in a canal house, the remains of friends and confidantes of the assassin known only as Louis. The men responsible for the murders are Serbian war criminals. They believe they can escape retribution by retreating to their homeland. They are wrong. For Louis has come to Europe to hunt them down: five killers to be found and punished before they can vanish into thin air. There is just one problem. The sixth. With John Connolly's trademark "dark, haunting, and beautifully told" (Booklist) prose and breathless twists and turns, The Nameless Ones is an unputdownable thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat"--… (plus d'informations)

The Nameless Ones is a little too long with a strange ending. Our hero Charlie Parker was not involved much at all in this book but his murdering friends, Angel and Louie were completely involved. The nameless ones are explained and had a very sad ending. The story kept its pace from beginning to end. Four stars were awarded to this book. ( )

I don’t know how this author does it. This was another fantastic book. It isn’t really part of the Charlie Parker series but I think readers will not entirely understand the story if you haven’t read books from that series. At the very least you would want to read A Book Of Bones.
These books have the perfect blend of history, religion, thrills. Adventure and outstanding writing and storytelling.
Every book I have read from this author has been excellent! ( )

Charlie Parker is involved, but the novel is more the search that Louis and Angel undertake after an acquaintance and his circle are tortured and killed by war criminals. Very well-researched, and written in the same thrilling style as all other Parker novels, there are implications that I will not be surprised to see in the next novel. ( )

I've enjoyed this series immensely, but this was the weakest of the stories. Connolly is largely focused on the supporting cast, which would be fine if these characters were more compelling. Alas, Louis and Angel aren't interesting enough to keep me invested in the plot. Louis, a near clone for Hawk from Parker's Spenser series, has always felt like he was pulled off a shelf, unwrapped, and let loose into the Parker novels to be the unstoppable killer calvary to support Parker. Louis and Angel's relationship is their best redeeming quality (along with their grandmotherly neighbor), but isn't really strongly connected to the novel itself. It's nice to see the ghostly daughter get involved a bit, but that just seems to be an excuse to keep the spooky side going for a later book.

The book primarily seems to be a vehicle to share the author's research into the atrocities of the Balkan conflict. It is an interesting topic, but it doesn't make much sense to intertwine it with the Charlie Parker narrative. ( )
