Knihy Heretikové a Orthodoxie prostě patří k sobě.

Chesterton great, but this book is in no way a sequel to Orthodoxy—the style is very different, and I am sure I am not the only reader confused by the similarity of the two titles.

While Chesterton is most popular in Christian audiences for his clever spiritual essays, these essays should be filed under "criticism." And the men and books criticized are mostly ephemeral; we hardly know what Gil is talking about when he soliloquizes about McCabe.

Granted, if you want to listen to someone soliloquize, Chesterton is not a bad choice. Any of his books has many penetrating and useful thoughts; but the scope and genre of the book in itself was lost on me. ( )

A collection of essays, about average for GKC - I've read both better and worse ones by him. ( )

Nothing more strangely indicates an enormous and silent evil of modern society than the extraordinary use which is made nowadays of the word “orthodox.”

We ought to see far enough into a hypocrite to see even his sincerity.
We ought to be interested in that darkest and most real part of a man in which dwell not the vices that he does not display, but the virtues that he cannot.
A good novel tells us the truth about its hero; but a bad novel tells us the truth about its author.
Ideas are dangerous, but the man to whom they are least dangerous is the man of ideas. He is acquainted with ideas, and moves among them like a lion-tamer. Ideas are dangerous, but the man to whom they are most dangerous is the man of no ideas. The man of no ideas will find the first idea fly to his head like wine to the head of a teetotaller.
