Gifted Hands by Ben Carson is going to appeal to a wide range of people. If you love inspirational books, this one is definitely inspirational. If you are in high school and unsure about a career, Ben's strategies and tips, compliments largely to his amazing MOM with a third grade education, but a work ethic and drive like no other, could foresee what needed to be done to be successful in life and passed that on to both Ben and his older brother. If you like books with a Christian theme, once again this book does not disappoint. I was interested from the first until the last page. Be warned you will not want to stop reading it. I am looking forward to reading his other books as well. Enjoy!

Oh that we could all have loving, determined mothers like Ben Carson to encourage us to rise to our best. Told with humility and kindness, this biography was moving and inspirational. ( )

This memoir was awesome. Carson shared his incredible story, all the while pointing to God and hard work for all his success.
"If you can read, honey, you can learn just about anything you want to know. The doors of the world are open to people who can read" (p. 37)
This was a quick and inspiring read, although it got a little tough at the end with some technical words and surgeries that were interesting but too much for me. (I don't like thinking about inside of bodies and brains, it grosses me out). Other than the surgical parts I thought it was beautifully written!
Carson just reminds us we all have gifts, talents, and love from God. ( )

Kniha Zlaté ruce líčí životní osudy kluka, který má spoustu snů, ale ještě víc problémů - se školou a spolužáky, se svým okolím, sám se sebou. Zároveň je to ale i příběh muže, jež se vypracoval z outsidera na přednostu neurochirurgie Fakultní nemocnice Univerzity Johna Hopkinse. Autor v knize vypráví o svém dětství, studiu, ale z části popisuje i prostředí věhlasné kliniky, kde v tichu operačních sálů ožívají mnohdy ztracené naděje.
