"A new epic of love and war among gods and humans, from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Awakening. The world of magick and the world of man have long been estranged from one another. But some can walk between the two-including Breen Siobhan Kelly. She has just returned to Talamh, with her friend, Marco, who's dazzled and disoriented by this realm-a place filled with dragons and faeries and mermaids (but no WiFi, to his chagrin). In Talamh, Breen is not the ordinary young schoolteacher he knew her as. Here she is learning to embrace the powers of her true identity. Marco is welcomed kindly by her people-and by Keegan, leader of the Fey. Keegan has trained Breen as a warrior, and his yearning for her has grown along with his admiration of her strength and skills. But one member of Breen's bloodline is not there to embrace her. Her grandfather, the outcast god Odran, plots to destroy Talamh-and now all must unite to defeat his dark forces. There will be losses and sorrows, betrayal and bloodshed. But through it, Breen Siobhan Kelly will take the next step on the journey to becoming all that she was born to be"--… (plus d'informations)

I really enjoyed the first book and I was looking forward to this one and although it was entertaining for the most part it ended up falling a bit short for me. The whole Marco and the over use of the word "girl" on his part was so cringy, he was characterized more like a 12 year old girl instead of a grown intelligent, versatile gay man and for this I was so disappointed. Why do authors' do this? I get you want to be diverse and "woke" but please, please do it correctly and tastefully, this was quite insulting which makes me feel bad because again I absolutely loved the first book but sadly I cannot say the same about this book.

The good that I did enjoy was the whole turn of events with Shauna, now that was bat shit crazy and I loved every bit of it. Girlfriend needs a ride to psycho town into a white padded room, LOL. That whole bit from Shauna creating a love potion to get to Keegan, to smashing her "best friend" over the head and trying to kill Bree multiple times, man I soaked all that in. Love, Love that part.
Overall the book was entertaining but only enough for me to give it 3 stars sadly. Will I read the next book? Most likely just probably not too soon as this one burned me out. 3 stars overall. ( )

Book 2 of the Dragon Series by Nora Roberts. Library book

In the second book of the Dragon Heart series, our heroine, Breen, comes into her own--thank goodness, as she was meek and whiney for much of the first book. She is very similar to the character of Jude in the Gallaghers of Ardmore series...unconfident and annoying, but then comes into her own and follows her dream of becoming a writer. But Breen is also a warrior witch, so that's cool. This is also the first NR book I've read (and I've pretty much read them all) that has a gay main character who gets his own love story. It isn't anywhere near as explicit as the heterosexual loving, but it is a step in the right direction. I wasn't initially a fan of the narrator of the audio book, but she grew on me, and I ended up really liking all the different Irish accents. ( )
