This is billed as a mystery, but there is very little mystery but a lot of relationship issues for the main character, who isn't all that likeable. ( )Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Well, I did not like Monk, which is a problem as he is the main character. The pacing of the book was slow, very slow. At about two thirds of the book you begin to understand some of the problems Monk encounters. And the end of the book was really good. It was not that I wanted to stop reading, the book was too good for that. If you like reading about someone who encounters a lot of problems and in the end solves a lot of them, this is the book to read. O, and do not forget the women in the book, they are quite important too. As for that, I did not like Agnes either. Who I did like, was Zach. As everyone else did. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Monk finds life is nice and simple when you don't think too hard about what you're doing or the lies you tell yourself. Believing his relationship with Judith is over, and a happy content life with Agnes is his to enjoy, Monk is shocked to find, tragically, that's not true. While dealing with a dying lover, Monk is dogged by family, business, gangsters, cranky widows, and a mystery woman who claims Monk has stolen her money.
