Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I found the set up and first half or so of this book entertaining, but the second half got too grisly for me - torture, brutal killings, competing assassins. There were also a lot of questionable relationships - no spoiler, but no one seemed to care that much for each other except the people who probably shouldn't be in a relationship, and it felt like everyone else just wanted to kill someone or ruin their life. What I thought started out as a pseudo intelligent book with an interesting mystery theme devolved into an action-thriller movie, so if that's your genre, it works. Not a waste of time but I won't read the next one even with the cliffhanger ending. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. White collar financial crime, mobsters, hired killers and two Detective partners just getting romantically involved. A little slow at the beginning, setting up the characters, but a lot of good action and a tastefully described torture scene. Cliffhanger ending. Set up for next book. This said part 1, book 3. I’m not sure what that means but there are references to past police cases. Overall an enjoyable read. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Appartient à la série
The Third installment of the Tomas O'Malley Mystery series. Tomas O'Malley simply wanted to enjoy his 55th birthday with his kids, and maybe a tall McNaughton's. Little did he know a dead body in the shadow of White Sox stadium and a dead CFO in North Chicago would both tie back to Dr. Alan Grove, Chicago's Chief Medical Examiner's husband and President of Manufacturing at one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the country. With millions of dollars at stake and members of the executive team dying each day, O'Malley is caught between pressure from one of his closest friends to clear her husband and what every piece of evidence is telling him. He calls on his old acquaintance from the Moretti case, Marco Filini, to help find the evidence that will either clear Doc G's husband or send him to prison for the rest of his life. A twisted set of adjacent murders cloud the investigation and cause it to get lost, in the sand. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

I did like the book, but I did not like the extreme violence I sometimes read about.
So, three stars. ( )
