Since the passage of Public Law 94-142 in 1975, the area of Special Education has undergone great change, and schools are now beginning to recognize and support children with specific physical and intellectual needs by ensuring they are able to spend a maximum portion of their day in regular classrooms. The movement toward inclusion means that children with special needs are not simply provided for but become part of the teaching and learning community in which everyone--teachers and all students-can benefit by developing a "push-in" rather than a "pull-out" program.
