Written by university academics who teach and work in this field (some who have children with this disorder), this book is for parents and/or caregivers who have children with sensory issues. It is easily accessible for all as it not only uses everyday language, but visuals with charts and graphics to display information. After a brief explanation of the disorder, it offers strategies for the child and family on how to structure time from morning routines, within the school experience, and then throughout the remainder of the day and night. Written as a guide to bring calm and order to the child, family and within other settings.

This book is a must-have for anyone who has a child with sensory processing disorders or someone who works with them.
It focuses on morning routines, mealtime routines, bedtime routines, holidays, school routines, and social issues. A very helpful book ( )

Another book I'm adding to my arsenal of books to help me with my 13 year old daughter with SPD. I must admit that I've read so many books on SPD that this one didn't bring many new insights or helps. I do appreciate the specific activities though, and the way the book lays out a plan for parents doing their own therapy at home with their kiddos (myself included during the past 9 months of Covid). This is a great resource for families with children who have sensory processing disorders. There is plenty of information about sensory processing disorders and resources throughout the book. I was incredibly impressed with the activities and straight forward interventions that parents can easily implement. They are organized by settings which allows parents to easily locate pertinent information. This is a very handy, easy-to- read and practical resource. ( )

This book inspired a friend of mine to order more books for the parents of her autistic grandson. The parents were very moved, and already have praised the book for wonderful tips on handling their 12-year-old autistic son. ( )
