The story line started off very promising, however I forced myself to finish the book. I felt the story was very predictable and I found myself nt liking any of the characters. The characters were, in my opinion, all self centered, always about money, fame and selfishness. (

Not the worst book I've ever read, but still so bad I didn't finish it. Made about 50% way through and had had enough. Incredibly stilted style all telling no showing, unpleasant characters being unpleasant. There was supposed to be some investigation and redemption but as there were no signs of that by half way I gave up. (

No Halo Required could have benefitted from a less predictable plot line and characters. Early on I pictured Richard Picken’s Jr. and Loretta Devine in the roles of the Hightowers. That association did not change throughout the book. Perhaps I should have been imagining Chi McBride as Isaiah Hightower, but I was never able to make that reach. No matter – justice prevails in the end.

Fantastic, fast written two-days-read that makes you laugh, laugh even louder and read on.

It's the classical betrayal of a marriage story told in modern words. An Afro-American high school principal and expert fundraiser for the black cause is going astray by being attracted a few flings too much by a former student gone expert stripper.

Highly interwoven and expertly built into the racial background.
Four stars for pronounced writing skills and exceptional storytelling! (

I received a free copy of this book as part of Early Reviewers.
The story line is interesting but slow. The characters are very shallow but maybe they were meant to be and that’s how they get into their situation. It does become a lot more interesting about the last 1/3 of the book. I liked the ending. (
