My oldest daughter just finished this and handed it to me to read. She wants us to read the Fear Street books in order together and I'm totally down. I read R.L Stine books when I was younger and we are huge fans in this house.....Fear Street, Goosebumps, Haunting Hour, etc.

This contains the first 4 books in the Fear Street series. The stories were pretty typical Stine, typical YA reader books. Although, 2 of the stories did surprise me a bit, they had alittle different vibe than most Stine. I thoroughly enjoyed delving back into my youth....very nostalgic :) ( )

It's really hard to find each book anymore. They were written over a period of time in 1999 and were super dark, so. It's a twelve-book series about a senior class of high schoolers being murdered due to a supernatural curse, and for a long time, I wanted to read it again. I read most of it, and remember the final paragraph of the final book well. I learn a lot from the das_sporking community, and one of my most recent and most impactful lessons is asking why a story is told over multiple books. This one didn't need to be multiple books, let alone twelve. It could have easily been two or three volumes at most, especially since they were wrong on the murders so often. Twelve books suggests it all took place over a whole year, with one month being covered each book. I was in the mood for dark horror books, but if I really want to, I can rewrite my own concept and make it shorter. I liked how the books were put together introduction-wise. The covers were excellent, and inside were yearbook photos and quotes of each kid, with photo-negatives of kids who had died in previous books and 'rest in peace' superimposed over text. Very effective and tasteful. But ultimately, the series gets a pass on me rereading it due to its difficulty of being able to find again. I might do a rewrite of the concept as fanfiction for my own entertainment. ( )
