This really touches on the gender roles that are assigned to children. In this story of three sisters one breaks free of the pretty, clean and nice titles she was given to be her own person. When discussing how people are different through looks, culture and gender this would be a nice story to share. ( )

Daffodil, Crocodile presents an amusing and comical idea of: identity. And in my opinion, the language, and the main character, Daffodil, all help support this idea throughout this children’s fictional story. Daffodil has two other sister; they are all triplets, and Daffodil is sick and tired of everyone calling her by one of her other sister’s names. Without Daffodil as the main character, the big idea of this story wouldn’t have been so clear. Her character is so well-developed for readers to place themselves in her shoes allowing the readers to put themselves into the story. Next, the language is so descriptive, fun, and clear, which allows the readers, in my opinion, too connect to the main character. For example, the mother asks Daffodil, “Where’s my pretty little, clean little flower?” and Daffodil said, “I ate her!” The language is playful for all readers to enjoy.

Daffodil is a triplet and gets annoyed that everyone calls her by her sisters' names. She decides to make a big crocodile mask out of paper mache. Now, everyone knows that she is Daffodil, not Rose or Violet, her other two sisters. Good story about how it is important to be your own person and be yourself, not what others want you to be. ( )

Cute picture book. Could use it with young children. Daffodil is one of three triplets and she's tried of being mistakenly identified as her sisters so she decides to wear her mom's paper mache crocodile head. ( )

It was a cute little story about breaking out of the pack and being your own person.
