Two strong minded people who don't trust romantic attractions and also have learned to carve their own way in the world, come together because of a murder. There is lots of situational and conversational humor, and a swashbuckling envisioning near the end. If you are lucky enough to get the audio, you will be glad that Barbara Rosenblatt is the audio performer. Affair - Quick audio performance by Barbara Rosenblat 3 stars Fluff. Seuxally explicit, regency romance fluff. This is one of several books in a loosely connected series written by Amanda Quick aka Jayne Ann Krentz. The plots are formulaic; the low sexual puns are very broad. As far as I’m concerned, this book is a genre spoof. Barbara Rosenblat never fails to make me laugh. It's a 3 star book with a 5 star performance.

HTML:Charlotte Arkendale knew all there was to know about men. After all, she'd made a career out of steering marriage-minded women away from untrustworthy members of the opposite sex. Yet nothing could have prepared her for Baxter St. Ives??an arresting stranger too daring, too determined, too dangerous to be her new man-of-affairs. Still, perhaps he was the perfect person to help Charlotte investigate the recent murder of one of her clients. So she gave him a chance, never realizing that Baxter, a gifted scientist, would soon conduct a risky exploration into the alchemy of desire, with Charlotte as his subject. But even as he sets out to seduce Charlotte, a twisted killer lies in wait, ready to part the lovers...or see them joined together forever??in Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

Amanda Quick's writing and plotting are as engaging as always. Unfortunately, Baxter and Charlotte's romance simply did not resonate with me. This may be due to their lack of unique characteristics as they are very similar to many of Quick's other hero/heroine pairings.
The identity of the villain is also obvious from the start, and the tension and suspension in the eventual showdown are lackluster.
Overall, an entertaining enough read but not one of Quick's best. ( )
