When I teach growth mindset and kindness, I use this as the main focal book. Mary does a simple deed by picking blueberries and giving them to a neighbor, who then does something nice for 5 people, who then do something for 5 more. The book keep going with acts of kindness until it gets back to Mary. The best part is it has a chart in the back that shows how everyone in the world was touched by this kindness. Mary is an ordinary girl but her one act of kindness results in a chain of extraordinarily kind events. This is one of the cutest/sweetest books I have ever read. The characters are diverse and representative of real life; from a boy in a wheelchair, to a homeless woman, to a young Muslim girl, this book shows that kindness knows no bounds and how one simple act of kindness can change the world. I absolutely loved it. I will read this book to every class I have regardless of age. This book is about a girl named Mary. She does one kind deed and starts a chain of kindness. She picked blueberries and gave them to her neighbor, Mrs. Bishop. Mrs. Bishop made blueberry muffins and gave them to five people. One of those people was her paperboy who continued the chain by doing a kind deed for five other people. The story continues as the readers follow who is given kindness and who passes it on. The characters portray many people of different ages, cultures, genders, and background, such as homelessness. I this book presents a positive message for children of how they can do kind deeds in small ways. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
