The characters were interesting and well-wrought, the plot was engaging and layered and the writing was terrific. Ryn and Carly reminded me of women I have worked with in corporate America, and seemed like women I'd befriend. I loved that the plot was realistic. Cameron showed that, as in life, there are no easy answers. Women are constantly faced with challenges, emotional and professional, and none of us are perfect. But discovering our better selves through adversity and compassion, as these characters did, is something we should all aspire to do. Rather than tear each other down, they used their strengths to help lift all women. It was inspiring. I cheered for Ryn and Carly all the way through, and loved watching them unite for a higher cause. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Silicon Valley investor Ryn Brennan is on the verge of achieving everything she dreamed. She's succeeded in the male-dominated venture capital world, has a supportive husband, and is about to close the deal of her career. Everything is going exactly as planned, until she meets Carly, her husband's mistress, across the negotiating table. Carly clawed her way back from being a teenage runaway to become an accomplished scientist, caring single mom, and co-founder of her startup. Once she marries her loving fianc?, she'll secure the complete family she craves. But she's blindsided to discover her not so perfect fianc? is already married-to Ryn, her company's biggest investor. In an industry full of not-so-subtle sexism, can the two women rise above, and work together to overcome heartbreak, and ensure their success? Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

This book hit home for me on so many levels, and I believe it will with many women in the workforce.
It's a wonderful story with layers of what has shaped Carly and Ryn to be the women they become in the story, and what inspires them to reach beyond their (and others) expectations.
I love what they build together, how they meet (I've known women that's happened to IRL!) and what they represent: women who climb out of the trenches and fight for what's right, for themselves, and others, building each other up, and focusing on the happiness in life instead of what they thought they wanted. It's an inspiring story of what makes a family, and of building a better quality of life. ( )
