Charlie Brown was my absolute favorite growing up and still is to this day. There is not a holiday episode I have missed and I am slowly collecting all the books. I remember watching each episode each year with my mom and it is now one of our traditions. This story is about Charlie Brown during Valentines day and each of his classmates passing out valentines and getting each other presents. Another year comes by that Charlie Brown does not get a single valentine. The next day Violet mentioned that she felt guilty that Charlie did not get a single valentine so she erased her name on one that she had gotten and gave it to him. Additionally in the story Linus wanted to make his teacher his valentine but she did not pay any attention to him so both Linus and Charlie were disappointed in the end about valentines day although Charlie Brown was somewhat elated about his one valentine. I never understood as a child why everyone was so mean to poor Charlie Brown and I still do not. Every time I watch an episode or read one of the Charlie Brown books I want to help him and be his friends. So I believe the overall message of the text is look out for each person you know. Everyone deserves love on valentines day because it is a day to share love. ( ) This book was purchased for me in grade school through those wonderful Scholastic Book orders we had back in the 1970s. A huge Snoopy fan, this has been one of my favorites for a long time and I'm happy it is still here to share with my children. My absolute favorite part is when Snoopy makes his elaborate paper valentine - that dog is so talented. It's Valentine's Day again and Charlie Brown dreams the seemingly hopeless dream to receiving a valentine from anyone. All the while, the rest of the gang have their own trials whether it be Linus' struggle to get the biggest card he can for his beloved teacher, or Lucy trying to get some token from Schroeder while Snoopy and Woodstock are having fun spearing valentines on each other's nose.
