She complains through most of the book about making it in a man's world, yet she sleeps with clients and man's up business dealings in order to "make it". It's like she wants to be the man. She is in charge during sex and her claim to fame is sneezing every time she has an orgasm. She meets Reid on vacation and they don't exchange names. Lo & Behold they run into each other and find out they work together. Sex ensues and then work gets in the way so she wages war on him with some nasty tricks that are mostly illegal. Reid has baggage but is likable and honest. Sam is just unlikable and cringy. Drama happens and of course she jumps to conclusions and their relationship is tested. It was a quick read that I shouldn't have wasted the time on. ( ) Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I couldn't finish this book. I tried but I couldn't make it past the first few chapters. The summary sounded promising but Sam and Reid were just too off putting for me. I couldn't get into it. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. It is a fun, bumpy, rollercoaster of a read. Steamy sex scenes interspersed with the two leads trying to one-up each other in acts designed to embarrass the other. However, I feel that the schemes that Sam came up with were more harsh than Reid's - after all, none of the things Reid did to Sam got her arrested or needing to be taken to the emergency room. In spite of that, Reid was quick to forgive (a little too quick, maybe) and declare his love for the spicy, determined Sam. Would be interested in learning more about Sam's friends Grayson and Lizzie - perhaps there will be a sequel? Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Good, not-so-clean fun. This is a story of two strangers whose paths crossed and, perhaps unrealistically, crossed again. It’s a twisted road to a happy ending but a fun read for vacation or relaxation. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Achoo, achoo, achoo, achoo, achoo, achoo, achoo. Fuck, sweetheart. Fuck. Oh, shit. Such are the words, such is the style of this rocky love affair between soon-to-be competitors for a top business position falling for each other on a tropical island. It's two souls needing their fight to overcome their grievances, thier misunderstandings. Two souls playing a lot of good pranks on each other - but falling for another, despite everything. If you want to ride along a bumpy road to a marriage, you're right here. But don't expect anything more. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
All is fair in love and war. Will the fire of passion in this comedy of errors bring Sam and Reid together, or will it leave them burned?Sam Valentine is the definition of a boss bitch. She is one promotion away from becoming president of her elite brokerage firm, and has a string of lovers along Chicago's Miracle Mile. The one thing that could shake up her world is the Adonis in Armani standing in her boss's office. The last time she saw him, he was naked under a waterfall in Barbados Reid Gallagher never imagined he would see his vacation tryst standing in his father's office. He certainly never imagined they would be competing for the same job. Ever since she left the Caribbean, he has fantasized about getting closer to the hot-as-sin Sam--in and out of the bedroom. The war that ensues is nothing short of outrageous. The weapons of choice are vibrators, whips, and drag queens. The combat zones include the conference room, a mud wrestling pit, and a strip club. No one ever said war wasn't messy. In the battlefield of love, to the victor go the spoils, unless this couple can learn to set aside their differences, and surrender to passion.
