The title of the book is a little ridiculous - the story is actually very moving as well as sexy! ( ) Honestly, I wasn't expecting a lot from this book. I've been on a run of contemporary romance books that have just been okay, but this one surprised me. The writing is excellent, and the story is full of funny banter (my weak spot). And it has dual first-person POVs, which always works better for me in romcoms. Zelda and Ash end up as seatmates on a flight from Denver to Boston and, by the end, have embarked on several new adventures. She ends up working for him, living together, and she is his "not Millie" date to his sister's wedding. He's a grumpy perfectionist, and she's ordered chaos, so a perfect match. I liked how they kept touching each other to show affection and get some warmth in return. It's insta-love but done in the way I like: they know each other though they've been strangers up to them boarding the plane. There are some steamy scenes and some funny ones. I just picked up another book by this author, as I can tell she will be one of my new favorites. If ever I have known that two characters were destined for each other it was in the first minutes of "meeting" Ash and Zelda. For anyone familiar with this author, they know that she creates characters that out of this world. They are the perfect amount of snarky without being brash, the perfect amount of vulnerability without being weak, and they are the perfect blend of too good to be true and authentic. When I say too good to be true, I mean in the sense that the author outdoes herself to create a character that is something the reader has no idea that they wanted that character to be the way that they turn out to be. They, in essence, are everything they didn't know they wanted and everything they needed. I have loved every character this author has ever created. The Walsh series is one of my all-time favorites stored in my favorites vault. However, it was in the Magnolia chronicles that my heart truly fell in love. This family. Good Lord, this family is something else. Every time Diana hugged Zelda and seemed to fill her jumbled soul with everything that had been missing in her life, I felt the void emptying in mine. The way that Zelda managed to soothe the balm that was, in short, the perfectionist embodiment that was Ash, My heart soared. She not only calmed him but helped him soar in return and find something more important than work. Ash, good God Almighty, this man was a mix of grumpy, overwhelmed, and entirely smitten from the first moment he met Zelda. He needed that gust of fresh air and her lively spirit to bring him back to the land of the living. The ways that he was with her. My heart cannot even describe how many times I swooned and my heart grew, much like the Grinch, since I am personally jaded about love unless it is in fiction. Ash and Zelda made me want to believe in love outside fiction. This story is the perfect blend of romance, rediscovery, humor, and the lesson that to every season there is a reason. I cannot wait to see what this author has in store for Lynden. Considering I fell in love with Magnolia first who was quickly replaced by Ash, I can only assume that pattern will continue. This book is in my top books of 2020 and my favorite from this author. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Mr. Santillian, Despite the fact I'm currently living out of your guest room and sleeping with you most nights, I am writing to announce my resignation effective two weeks from today. In other words, I'll locate someone who is both obscenely overqualified and willing to devote their days to the handful of tasks you are able to wrench from your perfectionist, micromanaging grip. It may be difficult to find a Nobel laureate genius looking for basic filing work on such short notice, but I'll do my best. Don't worry about your sister's wedding this weekend. I still plan to attend as your date, assuming you've finished hating me by then. Thank you in advance for your understanding. ZeldaMs. Besh, Resignation not accepted. I'll see you at home.
