Wonderful book. This author is quickly becoming my favorite. It’s not just a Christmas story. Great plot. Truly enjoyed it. ( )

I was looking for a holiday book to read and was drawn to this one because of the theme of forgiveness and that is what Christmas is about. It gives the reader the strong moral message that you need to forgive before it is too late and you have regrets.

The main character Noel had issues with her father and she is trying to come to terms with their relationship now that he is dead. The focus of the story is on the journey Noel takes in discovering who her father really was and what she meant to him. However, because of the anger she has over the past and her mother's death she has never allowed herself to connect to him as well as others in a meaningful way. Throughout the story Noel goes thorough a sometimes painful transformation.

While I had to shake my head at Noel at times, I felt this story hits home for a lot of people. Forgiving others and yourself is truly one of the hardest things to do and most of us do not do it well (if ever).

If you like books with a strong moral theme this might be the one for you. ( )

This is a great Christmas season book to read! It's about a young woman who returns home to Salt Lake City to visit her estranged father when she finds out he is dying. Once she arrives she receives some mysterious letters and meets a lot of people who feel differently about her father than she does, and all of this causes her to re-evaluate a lot of things in her life. It's a beautiful story about self discovery and dealing with your past. I also really enjoyed the quotes from other authors at the beginning of each chapter. Note that this is the 4th book in Richard Paul Evans' Noel Collection, but it is a good story on it's own as well. After enjoying this book so much I have already ordered the other 3! ( )

The Noel Letters by Richard Paul Evans is 4th novel in The Noel Collection. Each book in this series can be read on its own. I have enjoyed Richard Paul Evans’ novels since I read The Christmas Box. I thought The Noel Letters to be well-written with developed characters and steady pacing. Noel Post is a woman who has let anger rule her life for too long. Painful childhood memories have influenced her life and her decisions since she was a teenager. After a sudden rash of losses, Noel has some downtime to reflect. She begins receiving handwritten letters that offer guidance, thoughts, quotes, and reflections. Noel can let these special missives help her or she can ignore them. There were several times when I found myself wanting to shake Noel and tell her to open her eyes (and her heart). There were some special characters in this story. Grace, Wendy, and Dylan each had something to offer Noel if only she would let them. I loved the descriptions of the bookstore. It sounded like a special place that would attract bibliophiles. I thought the store’s name, Bobbooks was disappointing and lackluster. It needed something magical and that was not Noel’s choice. I loved the quotes before each chapter about books and writing. There were other quotes interspersed throughout the book. There were some ones that I loved that I made sure to write down. The Noel letters is an emotional story that will tug on your heartstrings. The Noel Letters is a special holiday tale about misunderstandings, second chances, love, grief, books, and forgiveness. ( )

I love Richard Paul Evans books! I get so caught up in them I don't want to put them down! This involves Noel, who has never forgiven her father for her mistaken belief that he caused her mother's death. She Flies out to see her father on his deathbed but unfortunately arrives after he dies. She stays to finalize his estate and work at his bookstore until the new year. What she finds is the truth and the truth about herself. ( )
