Seymour Simon is an outstanding nonfiction book author. He does an excellent job of pairing fascinating pictures with interesting text. Oceans is a spectacular information book by Seymour Simon. The text is engaging yet easy to read. In addition, the photographs truly enhance the content. This book is full of valuable information regarding the Earth's oceans.

This informative science book takes a look at oceans in a way that most children have never considered. They will learn about wave energy, tsunamis, weather, sealife and facts about oceans. Filled with a lot of great information, wonderful pictures and keeps kids very entertained! ( )

Summary: Oceans by Seymour Simon is a great book for kids interested in how water works on our planet and for those trying to get information for an assignment. The books starts out talking about how earth is vastly different from other planets because of it's masses of water and then goes into weather patterns, wave energy, and sea life. The book is full of beautiful color photos and black and white drawings. Every page is full of information that the reader will want to share with peers or family.

Review: I love this series of books put out by the Smithsonian. Their mission of providing information to the masses is certainally carried on here in this series of books. The pictures add a lot and when reading it to my K-2 class they wanted to stop and talk about what was in the pictures and how they had seen similar views on the news or at the Oregon coast. It is a great book and I would encourage any teacher to have this series in their library. ( )
