Nothing that will win awards but I enjoyed it. A woman who finds paranormal artefacts for people meets a man whose father has been struck down by a deadly artefact meet and shenanigans ensue. Sierra Raines is looking to get herself back on an even keel when North Chastain requests her services, There's something going on with his ability and he may be losing his ability and his career to boot.

The two of them also get involved with Fogg Lake and it's mysteries, some of which are personal. ( )

North Chastain has been losing his paranormal talent for weeks, but he is less concerned with that than he is in finding an artifact that could save his father's life after a psychic attack in his hotel room. North knows he needs an expert, so he hires Sierra Raines, whose reputation for being a fraud has pushed her into the artifact trade. The trail of the artifact takes them into several adventures, but in the end, they all lead back to Fogg Lake.

All the Colors of Night continues the mysteries surrounding the community of Fogg Lake. The first half of this book is very engaging, however the pace slows considerably in the middle, but by the end, the action picks up again and questions begin heading toward answers. The story is told in third person POV, supplying the perspectives of both protagonists, which allows for the characters to develop. The romance story line is disappointing in that it really doesn't take off until the last few chapters and relies too much on jumping from tentative colleagues to lovers. Overall, though, All the Colors of Night is a good suspense mystery with psychic elements and a touch of romance. In addition, fans of the popular Arcane Society series will enjoy the crossover in this book. ( )

Sierra Raines is a go-between whose job is to deliver paranormal artifacts from sellers to buyers. This is a new career for her; she has tried quite a number of careers in her search for her true calling. She's lucky she has a paranormal ability of her own because the collectors she works with are often paranoid and dangerous.

North Chastain has a paranormal talent of his own which he is gradually losing. He fears for his sanity. When his father is hit with some sort of paranormal device that is threatening his life, North needs Sierra to help him find the device in the hopes that it will also save his father's life.

The two face all sorts of dangers from people who don't want them to succeed in their search. While working together, they also fall in love which comes as a surprise to both of them since neither thought there was a possibility of that.

This story is the second in the Fogg Lake series but stands alone quite well. In fact, the story is part of a grouping of stories that are set in the same world though in different time periods Many characters in this book have larger roles in others in the grouping of books.

I liked the witty dialog and banter between Sierra and North. The story was fast-paced and exciting. ( )

The book felt thin to me. I really did not get much of a feel for the chief protagonists. It's the usual paranormal background and world buidling but this one has a lot of stuff in it that was in previous books. Not fresh. And as per usual, there a part at the end where the "bad guy" explains everything. ( )
