When I bought the MP3 on CDs it was completely by accident. I meant to buy the audiiobook on CD instead. I had to constantly forward to where I left off and hope to never make the mistake of trying to bear through an MP3. That is not the author's fault at all. It was a bad experience swallowing the whole story in nine hours on day and seven hours today.

I am subtracting a star because I had missed out on the back story covered the first book and I am left wondering about who did the vandalizing of the greenhouse. It is not a standalone book and I did not understand it when I made the purchase.

I feel that Virginia and Earl should been left out of the book. Virginia was snoopy and very critical of others. It must have been Earl's decision to move their. Virgina was an ugly American.ee

I enjoyed that Henry, his sister, Sylvia and their new friend, Dennis Weaver loved bird watching and learning about birds. I love bird watching too. It was bad that Belinda was very slow to trust Dennis. Maybe she wanted Sylvia and her children to stay with and have help with the greenhouse after her other daughter moved. I was glad that she finally accepted Dennis and apologized for her coldness after he demonstrated his care and concern for Sylvia and the children.

I felt so lost with this that I would rather continue reading standalone than to finish this series. ( )

When I received book 3 of this series from a monthly book club, I decided to go ahead and listen to book 2, even though I was disappointed in the first book. I've come this far, so I'll read the next one too. I still don't understand leaving the reader hanging yet again. At this point, I want to know what happens to Belinda, Dennis, Sylvia, Maude, and the greenhouse. ( )

This book continues the story of the King family who lost three male members in one evening. A year later now, some are still hurting, but also ready to move on. Sylvia, like her younger brother, Henry, likes birding. On their first outing they meet Dennis who is new to the area. Sylvia has the house she shared with her husband and children to rent and Dennis needs a place to rent. Eventually, the relationship develops into more than a landlady/tenant one and they fall in love. There is so much more, but I think other reviewers told it all. The family discovers what happened to the missing items, but not the vandalism to their property, so there will be more to read in the next book. ( )

The Mockingbird’s Song by Wanda E. Brunstetter is the 2nd Amish Greenhouse Mystery. It can be read on its own for those who have not read The Crow’s Call. I thought the story was well-written with developed characters. Sylvia Beiler misses her husband. She is depressed and angry at God. She worries about her children and does not like to be separated from them for any length of time. Henry is also angry and rebellious. When he is not busy with chores, Henry likes to read magazines and books on birds. Amy Beiler is planning her wedding to Jared next fall. She cannot wait to become a wife. Belinda Beiler misses her husband whom she loved dearly. Instead of dealing with her feelings, she keeps herself busy with work, her grandchildren, and worrying about her family. The Mockingbird’s Song is a story about dealing with overwhelming grief, the various threats to the family and their livelihood, birdwatching, hope, and love. Sylvia and Henry have lost faith in God. They do not understand why He did not save their family members. The mystery is not the focus of the book. It is something that is happening, but it is not investigated. The threats are escalating making the situation dangerous. Virginia Martin and her husband, Earl live across from the King family. Virginia dislikes living in the country and especially from the noisy and smelly greenhouse (her words). She spends most of her day watching her neighbors (reminds me of my Grandma Anderson). Loneliness and the actions of the woman’s first husband have shaped Virginia. I am curious to see how Virginia’s story will turn out. The Mockingbird’s Song is an inspiring story of faith, family, friendship, healing, and love. I am curious to find out what happens next with the King family and their greenhouse. ( )

The Mockingbird's Song continues on the story of what happens with Sylvia and Amy and Henry and their mother. We start with them getting close to the time the tragedy happens. It seems like things focus on Sylvia and her grief.

We also meet a new person named Denis Weaver. Could there be a connection between Dennis and Sylvia? Sylvia first meets Dennis while out with her brother Henry bird watching. This book takes time to get into the beginning. It starts out slow but once you are into the book it gets better.

We see Virginia and her husband's personality through these books. It funny to see this along with how they see the Amish. Amish seem not bothered by their neighbors. We see how each member is still dealing with the loss of their family members.

Amy and Jerrod seem to be getting ready for their wedding. What happens when things start to pick up and the vandalism starts up again. Who is vandalizing the greenhouse? Why is happening? Seem to still be a mystery. Though we may have some answers.

More twists and turns as you turn the pages. Though this book is rated 4.5 by me as it is still good. This one focuses on family and bird watching and learning more about birds. Will Sylvia find her happiness with birdwatching or someone or both? How will Belinda cope with her grief and other things? ( )
