“In my experience, there are two things that no one will admit to: having no sense of humor and being susceptible to flattery.” ― Margaret George, The Memoirs of Cleopatra I love books on Cleopatra. This one is one of the better ones I have read. I especially like when the book is told in Cleopatra's own voice and that is what this book does. It was a fun read. Cleopatra is presented mas a strong but very human royal which I quite liked. I was glad to see the book did not skim and took us through her time with Julius Caesar as well as Marc Anthony. I also loved reading about her early years. It would be tough for me to rate it a 5 due to the fact that one of my all time favorite books is another Bio of Cleopatra that I read quite a long time ago and no Bio I have read since has been, for me, as compelling. But this is one of the better ones out there and if you are interested in Cleopatra I would recommend this book. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Bestselling novelist Margaret George brings to life the glittering kingdom of Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile, in this luch, sweeping, and richly detailed saga. Told in Cleopatra's own voice, this is a mesmerizing tale of ambition, passion, and betrayl, which begins when the twenty-year-old queen seeks out the most powerful man in the world, Julius Caesar, and does not end until, having survived the assassination of Caesar and the defeat of the second man she loves, Marc Antony, she plots herown death rather than be paraded in triumph through the streets of Rome. Most of all, in its richness and authenticity, it is an irresistible story that reveals why Margaret George's work has been widely acclaimed. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

I found Cleopatra to be a unique and engrossing character and would love to read more accounts of her life. ( )
