"Cue greed, lust, secrets, and serious suspense. Count us in."??theSkimm

"An insanely plotted book...riveting."??The New York Times Book Review

Written with the chilling, twisty suspense of The Wife Between Us and Something in the Water, a seductive thriller about identical twins, greed, lust, secrets, and deadly lies.

Twin sisters Iris and Summer are startlingly alike, but beyond what the eye can see lies a darkness that sets them apart. Cynical and insecure, Iris has long been envious of Summer's seemingly never-ending good fortune.

When Summer calls Iris to Thailand to help her sail the family yacht to the Seychelles, Iris has secret hopes for what might happen on the journey. But after a disturbing incident in the middle of the Indian Ocean, everything changes.

Now Iris has the chance to step into the golden life she's always envied??and get one step closer to the hundred-million-dollar inheritance left by her manipulative father. All Iris would need to do is ensure she's the first of his seven children to fulfill the strange conditions of his will.

But Iris soon discovers that her twin was keeping more than one secret, and Iris's life lurches between glamorous dream and paranoid nightmare. In a family in which the winner takes all, whom can she trust? And how far will she go to get the life she's always dreamed about?

"Ferociously entertaining. A novel like a triathlon: part evil-twin thriller, part howdunit (or did-she-do-it?), part juicy family drama. Drop Knives Out and Double Indemnity into the blender, shake some Dead Calm over the froth, power it on, and you've got a cocktail like The Girl in the Mirror??fresh, flavorful, and utterly intoxicating." ??AJ Finn, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Woman in the Windo… (plus d'informations)

(contains spoilers) I really, really enjoyed this book! Amazing twist that I guessed right before it was revealed, but the author set it up nicely with enough clues so you can figure it out. The little boy, Tarquin, gave away some amazing clues. I'd call this like a thriller beach read. It was quick and fun and I enjoyed it a lot. I love that Summer, the perfect twin, ended up really being the bad twin. And I just knew in the end, it was her that had killed Iris. But again, I think it was obvious and the author did a great job of not dragging it out. You find out quickly, so I don't think that was meant to be a big twist. Just an overall a great story! I do feel like I probably should've figured out the end before I did, with Summer giving Iris all the information. But again, I thought Iris was the bad twin. Anyway, great little thriller beach read that I listened to in just a couple of days. ( )

This book was a dream! I can't believe I let it sit on my tbr list for so long.

The cast of children were well developed and raw characters. They all carried their experiences in a way that shaped their personalities. So well done, and believable. These kids are the outcasts that we know, the people that spend their life searching for the place they belong. The lgbtqia reps were flawless, they flowed into the story seemlessly.

I was not expecting the murder mystery at all, and did not pick the correct culprit either. The final twists were well laid out, and crumbs were dropped now that I look back at the story, I just didn't catch them.

And finally, all the social commentary was spot on. It really shined light on our twisted view of raising children, and more.

Well, this was a hot mess. I thought it was going to be more of a family-dynamic-twin thriller which is how it started (and why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1) but then it goes off the rails in a major way. I have watched soap operas with more believable storylines. I know it was trying for the shock value and twists but no one would act this way and, if they did, they would need intense therapy or prison, preferably both. If this is on your TBR list, skip it - too many good books out there to read instead. ( )

I’m sorry, but I think all I can say is that it uses the word “sexyrape” a lot. ( )
