It's a beginner book with lots of basic info. I really like the spells. ( )

I received a complimentary print copy of this book from the publisher. My review is voluntary and unbiased.

“Green Witchcraft is a guide to creating a relationship with all things natural and supernatural and for harnessing that energy in a way that can affect your everyday life.”

Once you understand more about green witchcraft you can learn how to connect with the natural world in a meaningful way. Don’t let the title steer you from reading this book if you have or want to enhance your relationship with nature. This is not a book about “witchcraft” in the typical image that the word congers up. But, like most books it might not be for everyone. It explores the spiritual path that some might choose for health and wellbeing. Mostly, these alternatives are similar to ancient Ayurvedic medicine with plants, herbs, creams essential oils incorporated into healthy living.

I liked this book because it provided another lens in which to explore one’s experience with the world.

Skippity skippity through the meadows

I am a scientist and don't believe in witchcraft the slightest bit, but I like to read witchcraft books because they often are based on historical and botanical research and they often provide interesting approaches to the issues of daily life. Additionally, I'm a SF and fantasy reader and reviewer and having background knowledge of witchcraft is useful. From these perspectives, this book offers nothing of interest.

If manipulating nature or the supernatural were easy we would all be doing it all the time and the world would be chaos, with pink bunnies and black orcs roaming the streets. Making any change, natural or supernatural, in our selves or our surroundings, requires first deliberate intention, second intense focus, and, above all, the mental and physical strength to enforce our will. This book is closer to those "The Language of Flowers" books you see in a plant nursery gift shop than it is to a serious guide to witchcraft. It ignores intention, focus, and strength and I can't imagine anyone gaining any practical use from it.

You do not want this book even as a reference.

I received a review copy of "Green Witchcraft" by Paige Vanderbeck directly from Rockridge Press. ( )
