Presenting The Pilgrim's Progress, The Life and Death of Mr. Badman, and Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners by John Bunyan with illustrations by Nicholas Tamblyn and Katherine Eglund. This collection is part of The Great Books Series by Golding Books. Foremost among the works of inspiring Christian fiction, The Pilgrim's Progress is a spiritual novel unlike any other, a deeply religious and allegorical novel that has remained an influential and vital work concerning Christianity and the Christian's place in the world since it was first written. John Bunyan was born in Elstow, England; he is known to have been baptized on 30 November 1628. The author of nearly sixty titles (a number of them expanded sermons), he is best remembered today for the Christian allegory The Pilgrim's Progress. After the restoration--when the freedom of nonconformists was restricted--Bunyan was arrested and spent the next 12 years in jail as he refused to give up preaching. While in jail he wrote a spiritual autobiography, Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners, and began work on The Pilgrim's Progress, which was published years after his release. Bunyan died of a fever while visiting a friend in London in 1688.… (plus d'informations)
