A week-to-view desk diary for 2003, designed to commemorate the 250th anniversary of The British Museum. It illuminates the story of the Museum with quotations and images taken from a range of archival and contemporary material. In addition to marking important dates in the Museum's history, such as its first opening to the public, the diary also takes a more light-hearted and personal view: some of the stranger gifts to the Museum include, for example, a monstrous pig and a shoe struck by lightening. The short essays provide a potted history of the Museum and those people who helped to make it what it is today. In addition, the diary is practical, with a week-to-view format allowing room for notes and scribbles, and containing everyday information. There is space for recording addresses and telephone numbers, along with travel information, a conversion chart and international information and dialling codes.
