What an absolute joy of a new series!!! Aris is a unique a witch that ever was. Bubble gum pink hair, clumsy as can be but with a HUGE heart and sense of humor. Sadly her well to do, "well bred" society witch parents find her an eternal disappointment as she's a Mixta ... Meaning she can't cast magic of her own. Her entire life she's been looked down upon , ridiculed, and blamed constantly for things that she'd not done. So it's a huge relief when sent away to school. How was she to know her entire world was about to change in an instant? She is instantly drawn to a few certain witches... Oddly feeling a magical pull towards them. Surely that's all in her mind though...right? Looks like maybe there something here that nobody in the magic community was aware of. Could she be more than a mere Mixta? Suddenly gaining elemental abilities out of the blue? Professors already thought her odd on day one with her ability to move things without a rune, power word or incantation. If they found THAT odd wait until the end of term. Between being bullied by elite mean girl witches, and odd magical outbursts... Strange events, missing items and attacks toward her keep happening. Something out of the norm is definitely going on here. Here is hoping her five sweet guys can help figure this all out. Filled with humor, lots of witchy goings on, political snobbery, bizarre events, and just a lot of fun... This book is a great introduction to the new series!!!! I love the cast of characters so far and the world building. Aris is an absolute JOY that has me cheering her on the moment we're introduced to her. I can't wait to see what's for this pint sized bundle of sprinkles and happiness. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Aris Calisto, newest student at Aether Academy of Crystal Magic and Witchcraft not only stands out with her quirky outfits and bubblegum pink hair but also draws attention by being what's considered the lowest of the low in the Akasha society- a Mixta. When mysterious things start happening, including unexpected bindings, things going missing, and being claimed by a not-so-traditional familiar, Aris realizes she's in over her cotton candy-colored head. Enter in the five guys who have been magically roped into Aris's rodeo: Caspian- the playful potions brewer, Drayce- the summoner who never seems to get overwhelmed, Kye- a broody rune drawer who Aris can't help but pester, Xan- the spell caster with no sense of humor to speak of, and Torryn- the history professor who seems to demand every waking hour working on mastering her power. With a cauldron full of men behind her, can Aris use her i'magic'nation to figure out what's happening to her capricious coven? Or will she find out that life's a real witch? Professor-student relationships are inherently gross. It doesn't matter the age, there's automatically a dramatic power imbalance. Also, it's strongly implied that the main character is just over eighteen. There's an obvious statement from the author that everybody is over eighteen so she can cover her bases, but she also calls the love interests "boys." Definitely getting a teenager vibe.
I was working my way past the whole age-difference thing, then the main character has passionate sex with a guy she literally just met a couple hours earlier. Fine, if she's an adult picking somebody up for a one-night stand, but this is a very young woman hooking up with someone in her class who is very obviously going to be a strong love interest. Oh, and she's a VIRGIN. With literally no dating experience. And they don't use any sort of protection. And then the aforementioned professor stops by to perv on her discarded panties on the floor. No. Just no. ( )
