The author of the Mr. Lemoncello books brings his wit and humor to a pint-sized audience in this picture book debut that turns the universal dilemma of getting kids to sleep on its head. It's time for a nap but, just like stubborn toddlers everywhere, Annalise Devin McFleece won't have anything to do with bedtime. Dad tries to encourage sleepiness by pushing her around the park in her stroller. Along the way, they pass a man sitting on a bench, dog walkers walking dogs, a boy on a skateboard, kids playing ball, a girl practicing her juggling, and others. Each of them thinks that taking a nap is a great idea and if Annalise Devin McFleece doesn't want hers, they'll happily take it. And one by one, everyone falls asleep...except Annalise Devin McFleece. But when she's finally ready for her nap, all the naps are taken! Is there anyone who has an extra nap to spare? With every turn of the page, the busy city scene becomes more and more quiet...except for Annalise Devin McFleece. Will she ever take a nap?--Publisher.… (plus d'informations)

Derp. Derp. Derp. Just because you write successful children's books does NOT mean the foray into picture books is successful. Will people stay in a lane sometimes?!

I really with even finding this book comical. I find the unsleeping child obnoxious and every other character the same. Perhaps if I was trying to put a child to sleep myself I would enjoy it more........ ( )

Annalise Devin McFleece will not take a nap. Her exhausted, desperate father takes her for a stroll, hoping it will make her sleepy. It does not - but a man in the park asks politely, "If she won't take a nap, may I have it, please?" He's a trendsetter - soon EVERYONE is napping, even the father (who continues to push the stroller while sleepwalking). At last, there was nothing for Annalise to do, "no one to play with....And all those soft and steady sounds of gentle snoozling? They made her feel sleepy..." At last she wants to nap, but can't - because "all the naps had already been taken!" Even her wail fails to wake all the snoozlers, except for a cat, who graciously gives up its nap: "You can take one of mine."

Really delightful and fun illustrations; they reminded me a little bit of Brian Biggs' Tinyville Town. ( )

Annalise won't go to sleep and disrupts the whole neighborhood with her loud screams and cries. She is very persistent in not wanting to take a nap. Eventually, the neighborhood becomes so frustrated that all the people and animals act like they're sleeping. Annalise starts to become drowsy but doesn't think there are any naps left for her. A cat tells her he has so many naps stored up that she can have one of his. Annalise finally goes to sleep, and everyone cheers.

I thought this storyline was funny. This story is so much like real life with the persistent, stubborn child who won't sleep and adults doing whatever it takes to get the kid to sleep. I also loved the addition of the cat who has taken too many naps. Sometimes you just need to read something light, and this is a good book for doing just that. ( )

A stubborn toddler refuses to nap (which gave me some bad flashbacks to my daughter's often sleepless childhood). I thought it unfolded in a sort of bland and silly way as everyone except the little girl started falling asleep . . . until my daughter pointed out it was rather turning into the scenario for a horror movie. Alas, that potential was not realized. ( )
