I would recommend this book to kids in lower to middle elementary school. 2.The book goes through a story of what it was like to be a native american when the U.S was trying to put a pipeline in on sacred land. It was written in protest as well as just to inform people why it was so important in their culture to stop the pipeline. 3.I would recommend this book and have it in my future classroom. The paintings are super cool and have a great message behind them. And the plot helps demonstrate other cultures. This is a very beautifully illustrated book. On every page there is a beautiful and colorful illustration to go along with the story. The book focuses on the beliefs of Indigenous people and their values and what they find important. I think this book can be for any age because it can be educational and appealing to all ages. This is a book tells the story of a young girl who is fighting against an oil pipeline to protect her culture and their traditions. This was another Caldecott Honor book, so it has beautiful illustrations done with water colors. I think that this would be a great book to read to intermediate students and have discussions about some of these more difficult topics that may be happening to people around us that we might not hear about. This book shares with the readers how important water is to the Native Americans. The hot topic that is shared with in this book is how the pipelines have polluted the water. It calls for all people to take a stand for life on the planet. It has beautiful Illustrations. This book is a Caldecott Medal winner. Prix et récompensesDistinctionsListes notables
Water is the first medicine. It affects and connects us all... When a black snake threatens to destroy the Earth and poison her people's water, one young water protector takes a stand to defend Earth's most sacred resource. Inspired by the many indigenous-led movements across North America, this bold and lyrical picture book issues an urgent rallying cry to safeguard the Earth's water from harm and corruption.
