In a perfect world, Lucas West would meet someone in one of the BDSM communities he was active in, someone who ached for a Daddy Dom as much as Lucas longed for a Little to care for. They would date, play, build something that was just for them, and share a future together. In a perfect world, Colt Carter would get through his next deployment and then move closer to DC where he could create at least a semblance of a personal life. He wanted something outside of the Air Force, something kinky, something worth leaving everything behind for eventually. For years, he'd kept his inner Sadist and Daddy Dom locked up, only letting him out to play on rare occasions. In a perfect world...In reality, Lucas and Colt met each other.Top Priority is the first novella in The Game Series, a BDSM series where romance meets the reality of kink. Sometimes we fall for someone we don't match with, sometimes vanilla business gets in the way of kinky pleasure, and sometimes we have to compromise and push ourselves to overcome trauma and insecurities. No matter what, two things are certain. This is not a perfect world, and life never turns out the way you planned.… (plus d'informations)

This was just meh for me. I expected something different. There was passion between Colt and Lucas, no doubt, but I thought it would be more kinky and erotic. An I expected more mind-games.

I'm always on the lookout for stories when the main characters have similar tastes. Two doms or two subs. And they have to work around the fact that they want the same from a partner in bed, which is not each other. There isn't many stories like that out there.

So here are to Daddys who both want a Little, instead they find each other. The beginning was promising, the middle was boring, the end was a little cheesy.

I guess the lack of kinkiness can be put down to both men being Daddys and they couldn't play with each other. Though I honestly didn't see the Daddy in Lucas.

In the epilogue, they come to a conclusion, that something is missing, which is sadly not that surprising. So there will be a follow-up book, Their Boy. I would be lying if I said I'm not curious, but I'm less than excited. ( )

Consenting adult gay men who start out underselling the BDSM community, but discuss many parts of it that need more exposure? I'll take it gladly over most of the MlM stuff I have read, consent is key!

On to the characters. Lucas is boring and basic besides being into BDSM - but not the spanking part, just rough sex. Colt claims to be a sadist but barely exhibits it outside of aggressive dominance. They have sex, both using condoms and not, there is some realistic stuff where they use hand towels to clean up messes from raw sex -no blood - and use lube. Their personalities are basic, but Colt is much more forward than Lucas.

""You put everything on the line, and I’m…I’m—”

“You’re the one we come home to,” he said.

I didn’t understand. His words deflated me, only to flood me with confusion.

He leaned forward and rested his elbows on the table. “Every storyteller needs their audience, Lucas.”"

Colt's in the air force. Lucas has a basic job. Their banter is very adorable, passionate. They start to really feel like people by the halfway mark.

""“One jelly donut comin’ up.” He handed one over to me, then sucked powdered sugar off his thumb. “By the way, a hoedown is what I holler when I throw you down on the bed.”

I blinked with my donut in midair.

Colt cracked up.

Did the cocky jackass just call me a ho?

“Your face,” he wheezed through his laughter.""

Oh yeah, Lucas is the clumsiest guy possible, like everything bad happens. From tripping to ruining his clothes, he is bad luck mixed with walking under five ladders galore. It's actually really fun to read and see what befalls him next, especially because nothing too bad ever really comes of it.

>Two Tops. More than that, two Tops who were into the same BDSM kinks. Two Tops who saw those kinks as more than kinks. It wasn’t role-play; it wasn’t a spice. It was a lifestyle with which we identified.

When Colt goes to Iraq it is especially sweet that Lucas watches the news even more intensely. The worry is precious and a good thing to have in a gay romance. They barely can stay in contact, and Colt is jealous and scared he'll die, but it's not too aggressive or awful. Lucas is pretty dang precious of a lover.

>“I’m not poly,” I admitted. “I’ve only been in monogamous relationships.”

Colt spends nine plus months in Iraq and tensions are high, but Lucas is dedicated.

The ending is pure and nice. It's really really nice to see the whole supportive family along with how the book ends.

I will definitely look into book two and see how this series goes, hopefully it doesn't rot. ( )
