The premise of this book seems outrageous at first, but does have some plausibility. I can't say whether or not it is valid, but its implications are profound. The author claims that cancer cells are "on our side." That the immune system could easily destroy them if it wanted to, but chooses not to. That "without its root causes, cancer is as harmless as a simple cold." That orthodox cancer treatments fail to extend life because they are based on a faulty understanding of what cancer is. That they target symptoms, not causes. He discusses in detail the nature of cancer and its root causes and promoters, some of which may surprise you. His insights can be applied to other illnesses as well, not just to cancer.

What is a tumor? Is it a toxic waste depot created by the body to isolate toxins from the bloodstream? If so, attacking tumors is dangerous. Moritz describes cancer as “a more or less permanent traffic jam in the body.” If congestion is the problem, fasting might be a solution. Maybe detoxing by fasting will reduce the size of the waste depots.

I am skeptical about some of his claims: for his "energized oil paintings," his emotional healing by chanting, his liver flushes, etc. He tends to exaggerate and oversimplify. On page 142 he claims that "drinking the juice of broccoli that has been boiled in 16 to 20 ounces of water" can cure prostate cancer! Of course it is not that simple!

But there is also some good information here and this book deserves to be considered. Most of it makes sense and is well documented. This is not a book to believe or to disbelieve. It is a book to get you thinking about what cancer is and isn't. Read it critically, but read it. Then make up your own mind. ( )
