Every one that has had experience with a drum....and its noise....you can relate to Pokko's parents. They have discovered that Pokko's music is much too loud. But as a result, Pokko is sent outside and she discovers her whole new world, her skillset, etc. ( )

This might be one of my favorite picture books of all time. How often have I realized that whatever I just handed to my kid was a huge mistake? The deadpan illustrations, the dry humor, and the mom who is always just getting to the good part in her book and sends her loud kid outside with a drum...it was basically a biography of my family if we were frogs who lived in a mushroom. 10 stars. ( )

I loved this book so much that I ordered it right away for my niece. I appreciated that the female protagonist was active and accomplished and I loved the sense of humor and recognition of parents trying hard to find the right path for their children. ( )
