Kayn edellinen kirja oli erittäin hauska ja myös koskettava. Tämä oli enemmän vain hauska, ja nauroinkin ääneen useammankin kerran. Hauskojen kertomusten alla kulkee toki tärkeäkin teema siitä, mitä on terveydenhuollon ammattilaisen arki, ja kuinka epäreilut olot toisinaan on (etenkin tässä NHS kuvauksessa.) ( )

The book did not live up to my expectations in that I did not find it as good as the author’s first book.

He used to be a doctor in the gynaecology/labour ward of a hospital, and this book recounts his various experiences there at Christmas time on the night shift.

The book is cleverly written and amusing, though at least one of his stories is disgusting, and I failed to appreciate his ironic style and his constant use of four-letter words, in particular one of them.

Some of his comments do show that he cares about the fate of his patients, though sometimes one wouldn’t think it.

We are provided with lots of medical terminology and explanations, which are interesting and informative.

Not a bad book, if you don’t mind the author’s sardonic style, which is perhaps due to his experiences being so serious (life-and-death) that he needs to distance himself from them all. ( )

If you ever wonder what it's like being a doctor at a publicly funded hospital during the Christmas season then this book is for you.

Adam continues from his first book (This Is Going to Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor) by adding more details but also referring things that were explained in his previous book (most of the time he briefly recaps it but then multiple times during the footnotes he says to re-read his first book). So it would be good to read his first book then read this book and don't wait too long otherwise you may forget things.

If you don't read the footnotes then sometimes things won't make sense so as Adam says in the book READ THE FOOTNOTES.

The book does have tons of British references so if you aren't from that area then you may take to Google certain things (I know I had to Google probably a dozen things) in order for them to make sense.

It is a short enough book that it can be finished in a couple of days (or probably one complete reading if you want) which is nice but it doesn't skim on details or just over anything.

Overall, a good book that I wish was longer and had references that everyone could understand. ( )

Very similar to Kay's other book and equally amusing/harrowing. Will never look at peanut butter in quite the same way again. ( )
