Waking up in a strange house, with no memory of how or why he is there, Stuart Milton finds his life has changed beyond recognition. His pregnant wife is missing, but his only living relative, his brother, is incapable of substantiating his claim. Lost in a world of confusion that is spiralling out of his control, Stuart finds temporary salvation in a psychiatrist assigned to his case. Meanwhile, peculiar events across the world lead a team of Oxford scientists to develop top secret technology that will change the future of humanity. I give up, throwing in the towel at 75%. This book was just too slow, too many tangents, too much in need of a good (hell, even a bad) editor. It took to the 40% mark before we finally learned that Stuart had fallen into a parallel universe. Well, except for those of us who'd actually seen the title of the book. It just went downhill from there. YOU get a backstory! YOU get a backstory! YOU get a backstory! I just don't have the patience. ( )

**Spoiler alert**
This was an interesting so-fi novel about lives in a parallel universe. When Stuart Milton awakens disoriented and in an unfamiliar place, no one believes him when he talks about his job at the zoo, or his married life with Lauren. His brother, Dave, doesn’t support what Stu is saying.
Other strange events with people disappearing are scattered throughout the book. My biggest concern with the story is that these seemed a bit out of place. They are explained later in the novel, but they are confusing when you first read them.
As the story progresses, more and more information is provided about experimentation and DNA regeneration. It comes to light that there is a device called The Harmoniser which is being used to experiment with people and rearrange their DNA to constantly regenerate and cause you to never age. When Stu re-enters the machine, he returns to his life with his wife Lauren. ( )

Interesting read and just what I needed as I've been binge watching Vikings and need to get away from them for a bit.
This one starts out with Stuart and he's confused as to where he is, his house, his pregnant wife, etc. Nothing is making sense to him even after talking to his brother David.
He gets help from a psychiatrist and she's tried to help him piece the missing parts together-no one at the museum where Laureen works even know her...
Interesting concept of the unexplained black spots on weather tracking satellites-could happen I suppose....Reminds me so much of the twilight zone as the scenes that the cops and others come across just can't be explained...
Other events around the world are going awry also, lots of high technology and things above my comprehension but they are making sense that this could totally happen in the world today.
One explanation is quantum earthholes...like how they plan to send Stuart back with the DNA implanted and he knows what he has to do with it...
Very detailed transformation and I worry what he will find at the end of the journey. Very scientific believable read.
Enjoyed the book and the subject.
Received this review copy from the author via the publisher and this is my honest opinion. ( )
