I'm rather used to the crazy cases, because let's face it, most cops can handle the run-of-the-mill with their eyes closed. I'm only called in when the situation is weird or they need to solve the case fast.

This case is a little of both.

Someone's attacking women as they get off of work, hitting them in the back of the head. What started as a case of battery has steadily built up to homicide. With three murders, six victims, and no leads, the Clarksville PD are desperate to catch the assailant. But there's no real leads for us to follow, either, and for once my eyes can't really help.

A madman running around attacking women is bad enough, but the police are demanding answers we can't give them, and they're not taking no for an answer. It's pushing us all past our limits, and frankly, I don't know what's going to break first: The case or Donovan's patience.

Just finished AJ. Sherwood’s Crazy Head-Boppin' Mystery, the second in Jon’s Mysteries These are a fun read. Characters well developed with a few layers, a convincing alternative world and interesting mysteries and crimes to solve. It is like reading a good detective novel with some romance thrown in. This is the perfect conbo for me right now. That and the slowly developing relationship between Donovan and Jon - “I’ve decided to trust in that stubbornness. You want a lifetime with me. You’ll make sure it happens.” ( )

Well, while this is a perfectly satisfactory episode on the continuing-romance front, it's less good as a police procedural. One event committed in a different state does NOT automatically mean it's the same perp - this is just lazy plotting on the author's part. Fixing it would've taken a sentence about connecting the cases. If you're going to have crimes and investigations, you cannot ignore procedures just because your lead character's a psychic. Read this one for the relationship. Sadly, it's also less humorous than the first book, so less charming. I see there are more books planned. I hope the author's getting feedback that'll help shore up later works. Also, although the vocal interactions are great, the sex scenes are kinda boring - typical of romances. There's also a lot of excess words, five where two would've been better, and unnecessary repetitions - and that's distracting. There was some in the first one, but this one is significantly worse. Jon and Donovan forever

First, can we talk about the ridiculously funny tags? They tell a story on their own, and are so fun to read.

I love Jon and Donovan together. Donovan is protective of Jon, and does everything he can to make sure his love is safe and healthy. Jon may occasionally do unsafe things, but generally he has a good reason to doing it.

I can't wait to see more of this world, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Garrett fits into everything. ( )
