Maybe you don't know your neighbors as well as you thought you did . . .

"This is a very difficult letter to write. I hope you will not hate us too much. . . My son broke into your home recently while you were out."

In a quiet, leafy suburb in upstate New York, a teenager has been sneaking into houses??and into the owners' computers as well??learning their secrets, and maybe sharing some of them, too.

Who is he, and what might he have uncovered? After two anonymous letters are received, whispers start to circulate, and suspicion mounts. And when a woman down the street is found murdered, the tension reaches the breaking point. Who killed her? Who knows more than they're telling? And how far will all these very nice people go to protect their own secrets?

In this neighborhood, it's not just the husbands and wives who play games. Here, everyone in the family has something to hide . . .

3 stars only because this is not my type of book. I found this based on two weak premises, first that the mother would actually write those apology letters and second that a neighbour who received one would traipse around the entire neighbourhood trying to find the writer.....If you liked Big Little Lies then you will probably enjoy this.

I really liked how this book was about the neighborhood dynamics just as much as it was about finding out who the killer was. It’s a solid mystery that doesn’t go too hard with thriller aspects. It was more about getting to know all the suspects than it was a sense of urgency that people were in danger. That ending though.... ( )

Really enjoyed this book! There is a bit of suburban cliche element going on here but in a comical way, not an annoying way. This also adds so many more suspects! I did have the suspect in mind by midbook but the twists and turns kept me questioning my choice. Regardless it was a fun and exciting read till the very end. ( )
