Simon has just moved to a new town and a new art school. Interflux, the world's largest corporation, plans to tear down the woods next to the school to build a factory. So Simon abstracts the student council funds, buys a tiny strip of land between the new factory site and the road, and builds a fence on the land. Simon and his friends lead the rest of the school to keep their land and prevent Interflux from starting construction on the factory.

The trouble really begins when Simon's father finds out what he's been doing, because Simon's father is the head of Interflux. Thus begins a battle between the corporation and the school and between father and son to outmaneuver each other for control of the tiny strip of land.

This is one of Gordon Korman's best books, with several hilarious scenes. ( )

Simon Irving, the son of the vice-president of Interflux, the worlds largest corporation that only produces useless things just moved to Greenbush, New York and is trying to stop his father from building on the woods next to Nassau County High School for Visual, Literary and Performing Arts (The art school that Simon is attending at). With his new friends Sam "Sotirios" Stavrinidis, who paints at least one camel in every painting and Philip Baldwin, who shows potential but can never succeed in anything, they start a rival company to stop Interflux from building on the land. Simon has a great idea and buys a forgotten strip of land with the school's party money under the name I. Simon and starts Antiflux the so called "Bad Neighbour" of Interflux. They gather close to 1500 of the school's students to help fence the land that they bought so that Interflux is unable to pass through to build there. With Interflux pissed, Simon is faced with problems that Interflux is creating so they can get the land back, a crazy genius art teacher called Emile Querada who wants nothing but to win the Vishnik Prize and beat last years "creep" from Albany and other problems that he will come upon in the book.
Son of Interflux is an amazing book and one of Gordon Korman's best. I highly recommend it. ( )

This book is somehow a little more serious and touching than the average Gordon Korman book. My favorite of his books. ( )
