An authorized account of how William Peter Blatty came to write both the novel and the screenplay of The Exorcist. Excited by an article he read as a student, Blatty describes the work he put into researching his novel and the frustractions he encountered in turning the book into the screenplay. Blatty's fascination with the subject was born out of an interest in showing that the existence of God, in contemporary America, could be proved, as he says, If there were demons, then perhaps there were angels and probably God and a life everlasting. If there Were Demons, then perhaps there Were Angles. William Peter Blatty. 1998. I became interested in Blatty when I saw him interviewed by Raymond Arroyo about the Exorcist and his lawsuit against Georgetown University. Blatty died in January 2017 so I suppose the lawsuit will not be pursued. I recently saw the movie again so when I ran across this book I decided to read it. The book tells about all the research Blatty did and how hard it was for him to find reliable accurate information on exorcism and how he got book published and how he fought successfully to produce the movie and keep control of the script he’d written. If you’re interested in the book or the movie you might find this interesting ( )
