Picture Book
2019

In this book we meet Charlotte. She is a young bunny who is a scientist - she loves research, experiments, and solving problems. Her family is rather large and just got bigger because her grandpa has come to live with them. Grandpa is a highly respected rabbit and he loves that Charlotte is so interested in science - he encourages and tells her he knows she will make a difference. However, one day, nearly all of the animals in the forest get sick. Charlotte is determined to find out why. She devises a hypothesis, checks all the animals vital signs, but it coming up empty. She tires to tell her grandpa's doctors about her research - but think she is too young and don't pay attention to her. Charlotte is determined and believes the words of her grandpa - that she will make a difference. She decides to continue her research. The questions is, will the animals be cured? Will she come up with a solution or will the doctors find a cure before her? Read this adorable book to find out!

I chose this book because the colors are vibrant, this girl rabbit is determined, strong, independent and supported by her family. In the back of the book there is a glossary of terms for all the scientific words that are used throughout - like hypothesis, research, or stethoscope. There is also and address listed for Charlotte in New York - or an email address - where children are encouraged to tell her how they are making a difference by using science. It's just super cute and the story is empowering for young kids to realize they can do whatever they put their mind to. ( )

children's picture book (female bunny scientist solves medical mystery, with vocabulary list, kindergarten and up)
strong female character, but the story was a little dry. Might be good for kids who LOVE science? or kids who want to know what a clinical trial is. ( )

Charlotte is a scientist that remembers what her grandfather says about her making a difference. She then decides to find a cure for all the sick forest animals. She conducts experiments and interviews others to help her solve this problem.
I loved this book. It is educational and lifts up self-esteem at the same time. It reminds us that we can all make a difference. The book also has cute illustrations and a glossary included in the back. This is the second Charlotte the scientist book. ( )

Charlotte is a precious bunny scientist who blows pasts her fellow forest friends when the doubt her. This is what ultimately leads her to find the cure to what's ailing them. With the help of her wise Grandfather, she realizes that she can be the difference regardless of her age or her size.

It's important to express my deep admiration for the scientist stereotype being blown out the water is this sweet children's book - let's change the way student's see themselves and others around them. ( )
