This was a book I won for my boyfriend and he absolutely loved it. He was happy with the detail and design of the book. ( )

Chevelle Restoration and Authenticity Guide 1970-1972 (2019) by Dale Macintosh and Rick Nelson. If you are lucky enough, or smart enough, to own a fully set up 70’s chevy Chevelle, congratulations. If you just purchased a beat up early Chevelle and you are planning to restore it, this is the guide for you.
First off, the authors have done a great job n research and turning that knowledge into an easy to follow guide for working on your potential beauty. Then of course CarTech books have published that work in a 240 page, fully illustrated book that is easy to follow, has a sufficient amount of photos so you can follow along with the instructions, and have laid it out in logical steps. Essentially everything you need to do a proper job of the restoration is here at hand.
I pity the guys who had to painstakingly work they way through a library of conflicting materials and listen to hours of advice, only to find that had to improvise a solution to their problem anyway. Of course, they own an early 70’s restored Chenille now so I don’t pity them too much.
This book is a checkered flag winner and kudos to the authors. ( )

I've never really thought about restoring a Chevelle but have always enjoyed the classic pony car, both for the design and performance. This, to me, more than any other Chevrolet, exemplifies the 70's era muscle car - and yeah, I know there's the Vette and Camaro, but the wide mouth grill and double chrome-ringed headlights, plus that performance engine hump has always been a head turner and sought my attention much more than the ubiquitous Corvette or Camaro.

In this volume the authors Dale McIntosh and Rick Nelson take on the 70-72 version from a frame-off perspective - not that you need to do the same but who wouldn't want expert advice from guys doing things the right way? There's a focus here on having the right parts instead of "maybe" so your own ride is as close as possible to an authentic, newly minted Chevelle. There are some good pointers on what to look for, both in authentic parts and trouble areas that indicate problems that need to be addressed. Full color photos and an easy plain-English description detail the steps to perfect your ride. I think that this book, focusing on a few of key years, provides better detail and a more comprehensive approach to the restoration of same. Kudos to the authors for narrowing down the focus into something super useful!

The Chevelle originality crowd will salivate over Rick Nelson's Restoration effort! This is a great volume with nearly 250 pages of content focused on the true restoration of these cars. Covering only 3 model years, the details are there to do a true to the original restoration. In addition to thoroughly covering all of the basics, i.e. body and paint, engine and driveline, suspension, chassis, electrical, interior, etc., he includes the kind of minutia that's highly sought after such as: tables of bulbs and fuses, photos of labels and details regarding subtle differences between build plants that will make or break your restoration. Nelson even includes images of original build sheets in sections demonstrating the level of detail in this text.
Even those not restoring a 70-72 Chevelle will be impressed by the content. Pieces of information are certainly transferable to other Chevy products of the era and even other domestic models. The meat of this volume is, however, all about the noted model and model years and you get plenty of that! ( )
