I couldn’t get invested in the first 1/3 of the book but it eventually got better. I got tired of reading about the MMC wondering over and over again if the FMC was guilty.

Genre: romantic suspense
Age: adult
Series/Standalone: standalone
Content: gunshot wounds, kissing, murder
Rating: 3/5 Stars ( )

What fun! No Safe Place by Sherri Shackelford gives readers a quick, suspenseful (and romantic!) read, and I quite enjoyed it.

Forensic accountant (yay!) Beth Greenwood uncovers some dangerous corporate information and must run for her life. Her Superman-esque coworker Corbin Ross ends up along for the ride, but the pair must stay suspicious—including of one another. Costly secrets, imposing mercenaries, and a mysterious email keep the thrill alive as Beth and Corbin handle the complicated situation, especially after their feelings become involved.

An exciting and fast-paced story, No Safe Place is a great choice for the reader of romantic suspense. I recommend adding it to your TBR today!

Thanks to Prism Book Tours, I received a complimentary copy of No Safe Place and the opportunity to provide an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions I have expressed are my own. ( )

I’m always intrigued by authors who write in multiple genres, and with No Safe Place, Sherri Shackelford is stepping into the romantic suspense genre (from historical romance). And what a switch it is!

Beth Greenwood is a forensic accountant who is about to go on the lam once she turns evidence of money laundering in to the FBI. Corbin Ross has been keeping a suspicious eye on Beth the past couple of weeks and knows something is about to go down.

As the two of them escape an attack on Beth and go on the run, neither is ready to trust the other. But the continued attacks on Beth soon confirm someone is trying to shut her up permanently.
Shackelford maintains a perfect balance of intense action and personal moments between Corbin and Beth, making their building attraction natural and authentic.

While there were a couple things in the book that I found predictable, the plausible situations the characters find themselves in more than make up for it. Corbin and Beth are people of faith with an inner strength that makes them do the right thing no matter the personal cost which had me rooting for them from the get-go.

I hope to see more romantic suspense reads from Shackelford in the (near) future.

If you are looking for an adrenaline-laced, romantic suspense to start off your reading new year, then you need to check out No Safe Place by Sherri Shackelford! This book has it all — engaging characters, danger and intrigue aplenty, and romantic sparks. Staid forensic accountant Beth and hunky superhero Corbin team up to outwit and outrun the bad guys. Cyber crime and terrorism keep this novel relevant and plausible. Plus the chemistry between the two is sweet and sassy. I figured a few things out before the main characters, but they didn’t have as much info as I 😉 . The ending is a sweet happily-ever-after with a bit of a twist. You know you want that HEA! Faith is important to the characters, and their trust in God deepens as they navigate the attacks. All in all this book would be a great companion for a weekend getaway or staycation. Suspense and HEA — what are you waiting for!

Recommended.

Audience: adults.

Beth Greenwood discovered her suspicions of this company she was working for is well founded. Now she must do what she can to expose them, then disappear. However, just as often happens, her plans don't work out.
Corbin Ross, Homeland Security Agent, is working undercover. His efforts are thwarted when his assignment tries to disappear.
Neither individual feel she/he can trust the other. Are they at an impasse?
Will one or both get killed before they can ""move on"?
This is an action packed, suspenseful, romance novel you will not want to miss!
Each chapter leaves the reader anxious to discover, "What happens next?"
It is somewhat predictable but keeps the reader unsure and has enough "twists" he/she will not lose interest.
The characters seemed very real, and the scenes were well described so the reader felt he/she was a part of them.
The Book Title was a great "Fit", and the Cover image was okay but not an impressive "eye-catcher.
It still earns a Four and a Half Stars rating.
*This book was gifted me with no request for a positive review. This is my honest review ( )
