The first fifteen chapters of this anthology come from one of the rearest true crime books know to exist, Enimies of the underworld, by Frank Dalton o'Sullican. Self-published in 1917, the author's 700 page tome was acquired and digitized for the first time by the publisher of this anthology, Historical Crime detective Publishing. The remaining five chapters were selected from Fifty Years a Detective by Thomas Forlong, published in 1912.Thirty-six new illustrations and approximately seventy annotations were added to this anthology to enhance the reader's enjoyment.
