Lilly was abducted by pirates to become a whore, Raff meets Lilly as she's trying to escape her captors and she falls at his feet after being stunned.

From previous books Velor was a bad ass, man of few words and quick to kill. In this book I didn't really get that vibe, the book talks about it, but it doesn't really come across. I liked the idea that Lilly brought out anther side of Raff but I would have been more in character if some of the old Raff came through more.

There's a bit of action as Lilly's owner refuses to sell her and Raff must battle to get her safely away and avoid being found until the Vorge Crew can return to pick them up off planet. I kept expecting more but after the initial action it subsided into bonding and wedding ceremony plans.

If you like the Vorge Crew series, this is a nice quick read. Likeable but not as good as the previous books. Dohner also gives us a sneak peek into Marrow's story.
