One thing that bugged me especially in the first half was the blatant man-hate. At times it was so sexist that, if the genders were reversed, this would've been deemed unacceptable by many. Especially early on it's one man-hate clichée after another and all the prejudices are of course conveniently confirmed every time. This is the second time I tried this author and this one surprisingly overlapped with "Dark Fae FBI" which is the other one I've tried. I got a very similar vibe as I got from Agent of Enchantment. Let's just hope the second book won't be as disappointing. There are a lot of question marks I just can't properly judge yet. Edit: I've read the second book and I can judge them now. It's bad. Really bad. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
My two goals in London? Drink whiskey with my best friend, and don't let anyone know I'm brimming with magic. A supernatural gladiator like me isn't supposed to exist anymore. Not since The Anarchy ended. But my night takes a bad turn when a lethally gorgeous fae--Ruadan--tries to assassinate me. He's taken a vow of silence until he's slaughtered the outlaws on his kill list. Outlaws like me. Ruadan lets me live on one condition: I have to earn my place at the Institute of the Shadow Fae. As a powerful demi-fae, I can take the competition. But things fall apart when I'm given an impossible choice: betray my mentor Ruadan, or my best friend dies. This book is from the Demons of Fire and Night world. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

It's an entertaining book with interesting characters, some based on historic figures. The Shadow Institute is based at the Tower of London, though it has been revamped for the Fae. The story definitely hooked me. Arianna has secrets, but she's also weirdly endearing. I definitely will continue the series. ( )
